Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour visiting Cunnamulla – 19 September 2023

As planning continues toward the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour our dedicated group are working to develop an exciting itinerary.
Like most great projects there is lots of planning, approvals and moving parts in the background. We are working closely with Victoria Racing Club Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour officials to ensure the visit meets all requirements and we are able to create an event that is well planned and executed.

We are very excited for the Cup to be visiting Cunnamulla and know the excitement isn’t just held with those as part of the working group. With only 8 weeks to go, plans are very much still being created, but we have no doubts they will fall into place soon and a memorable event will be had.

Some of the finer details that are in motion we are able to share today;
- An incredible amount of history has been shared
- Generous offers of items to display are being presented
- We have an amazing cohort of racing identities who have already committed to attending or who are working toward plans which will allow their attendance
- Local interest and excitement is generating and lots of fun, creative and inclusive ideas are flowing and
- There are plenty of opportunities to be involved as a business owner, spectator or participant

We will have lots happening on the day (Tuesday, 19th September 2023) and encourage you to use the next 8 weeks to get ready, build some excitement and maybe a float for the parade, or a decorated shop front. Everyone is invited to participate. Some items we have confirmed and are able to share now are as follows:
- Representatives from Victoria Racing Club and a former winning jockey of the Melbourne Cup (yet to be identified) will be in attendance escorting the Cup
- The Melbourne Cup will have official photos at iconic locations around Cunnamulla
- There will be a visit to the Cunnamulla Hospital residents, patients and staff
- There will be opportunities to see and possibly hold the Lexus Melbourne Cup
- Cunnamulla & District Diggers Race Club are working to create a ‘Through the Years’ exhibition to be hosted at the Cunnamulla Fella Visitor Centre Gallery | Ph: 07 4655 8400 | PO Box 75 Cunnamulla QLD 4490 | www.paroo.qld.gov.au 
- There will be a Street Parade, various Competitions, Street Entertainment and Activities
- There will be a Sportsman’s Dinner open to all

We will continue to communicate and provide as much information as possible as event plans are confirmed.
