Homecoming for newly appointed Paroo Shire Council CEO

Paroo Shire Council is pleased to announce that Cassie White has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Paroo Shire Mayor Cr Suzette Beresford said that Council conducted an extensive recruitment process and received a substantial number of applications.

“We were very happy with the applications we received and Cassie’s impressive application stood out amongst the large field of candidates,” Cr Beresford said.

“It’s especially exciting as in addition to her professional work experience, Cassie grew up in the Paroo Shire and has fantastic knowledge of the area and its potential.”

Ms White has extensive experience in financial management for local government, with a focus on providing enhanced processing techniques to improve productively as well as financial reporting and auditing. Ms White also brings with her experience of being at an executive level of local government from her most recent role as Deputy CEO at Diamantina Shire Council and is the Junior Vice President of the Local Government Finance Professionals of Queensland.

Ms White said she is extremely honoured to be the successful applicant and is humbled by the outpouring of community support regarding her appointment.

“I am delighted to be returning home. Combining a new work opportunity with the ability to offer our daughter a childhood surrounded by family is very exciting,” Ms White remarked.

“I look forward to the years ahead, enhancing prosperity while providing positive leadership, support and stability to our Shire and workforce.”

Ms White will start in the role on Monday 21 September, commencing a four year contract. The current Acting CEO Sean Rice will work with Ms White to ensure a smooth transition.
