Swooping magpie season
Magpie’s protective swooping behaviour is in full force while they breed from August to October each year, but there are ways you can reduce the chances of attack.
There is currently a swooping magpie that has his nest in the Telstra tower behind the Cunnamulla Post Office.
He’s been particularly vigilant lately and has been swooping people around the Cunnamulla Post Office, Bob Poncho Park, in front of the Paroo Shire Hall and Cunnamulla Fella Visitor Information Centre.
There are things you can do to reduce the chances of being swooped which include moving on quickly (but not running!) from the area.
Council is currently working on getting a permit to safely relocate the magpie to another area but in the meantime more information and tips on avoiding being swooped are in this fact sheet.
