Mayor Beresford’s September Council meeting wrap-up
Funding for Cluster and Link Fencing
Council will be distributing an Expression of Interest letter to rural landholders to update the level of interest from eligible individuals and groups wanting to build cluster fencing for a group of properties or link fences between existing exclusion/cluster fences. The information will be utilised in funding submission/s to subsidise a fencing scheme within the Paroo Shire.
Cunnamulla Library
Thanks to a State Library of Queensland Strategic Priorities Grant, the Cunnamulla Library has received a new circulation desk specially crafted to fit Council’s library. The new desk was installed this week by local tradesmen and will improve customer service through better contact vision with patrons and improved book handling.
School Program
Council is working with the Cunnamulla P-12 State School to provide work experience placements for two students. The placements are with the Parks and Gardens Team and it is hoped the work experience opportunity will foster an interest in a career working with either the Paroo Shire Council or a similar type of work elsewhere.
Change of Meeting Date
Due to the Local Government Association of Queensland Annual Conference coinciding with the October Council meeting, the Paroo Shire Council has resolved to change the date of next month’s meeting to 13 October 2020.
Roadworks
Flood damage work and other road maintenance work is almost complete on Bluegrass Road. The roadworks crew will then continue south east along the Thurulgoona Road from the Thurulgoona/Bluegrass intersection. A second roadworks crew has commenced work on the Murra Murra Road from the Bollon Road intersection working north to south after which they will move onto the Bundaleer/South Plains Road.
