On Sunday there is a Fishing Fun Day starting at 6 am, Breakfast with Pete Denahy then free Stan (Coster) and Slim (Dusty) event in front of the Shire Hall. Tickets are available online or at the Cunnamulla Visitor Information Centre.
Roadworks
Our recent welcome rain had caused the postponement of bitumen sealing works but these works have now been completed and finalised Paroo Shire’s Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS) for the 21/22 financial year. This work extended the bitumen seal on the Jobs Gate Road for a further 2.5km and sealed widening and improvements to the Eulo-Toompine Road.
Other works carried out recently:
- Grading of the Hungerford, Old Charleville, Glencoe, Blackgate, Jandell, Moama Pitherty and Humeburn Roads
- Some work on fire breaks around Eulo
- Slashing the road shoulders on the Main Roads
- Installation of grids on the Blackgate Road
- Watson and John Street kerb and channelling commenced
Low Cost Camping Options
Council was recently notified that Cunnamulla no longer offered sites that met the Low Cost Camping requirements to be an RV friendly town. It has received feedback that a number of visitors with self-contained motor homes and caravans are seeking this type of low cost site. It is therefore Council’s intention to liaise with the owners of the existing Caravan Parks to investigate avenues whereby Low Cost Camping could be offered to visitors and discuss possible sites. Public comment will be sought once details have been agreed and before arrangements are finalised.
