Flood Recovery Update
The District and Local Disaster Management Groups continue to meet daily whilst in stand-up mode to co-ordinate the response to the current flooding event.
Roads & River Heights
A direct link to the Bureau of Meteorology river heights, updated twice daily, is now on the Paroo Shire Council’s website dashboard www.paroo.qld.gov.au as is the Local Roads Report.
Response
Fodder drops are continuing when requested and resupplies of both JetA1 and Avgas to the Cunnamulla airport are arriving before Friday. Resupplies to isolated communities will continue as required. Local roads are being inspected daily, and emergent works will be undertaken on roads to allow them to be safely opened as soon as possible.
Recovery
Two recovery sub-groups have been established and met yesterday. One sub-group will focus on human and social needs and the other on economic and environmental impacts. A website with all information on recovery assistance available to the community, primary producers, small business and not-for-profit organisations is being developed and will be online today. Further information on this website will be posted once it is live. A manned hub will also be set up at the Shire Hall in the secretary’s office before the end of this week and contact details shared once they become available.
